From Students to Professionals
As university students (2nd–5th year), we took our first steps into what was then a brand-new field — web development.
We created our very first website — just a set of static HTML pages without any admin panel. That’s how web projects were made back then — sounds pretty funny today :)
The dollar exchange rate was ₴8, and our salary was about $375. At that time, big IT companies offered around $300 to beginners — so it was a good sign and motivation to continue. Plus, we really enjoyed what we were doing.
We decided to build our own CMS that would let our clients easily manage their websites — the main goal was to make it as simple as possible!
We developed a website for a travel agency using our new content management system. It was a simple site, but thanks to the easy-to-use CMS, our client continued to get traffic, leads, and business growth for over 15 years.
It was an e-commerce website for a pharmacy chain, fully integrated with their accounting software. Development took over a year due to both technical and coordination challenges, but the result automated stock and price updates — making sales much more efficient.
We started getting new projects every week — from small websites to complex custom solutions. Our clients included Lviv Opera House, Pochaiv City Council, Lviv Chamber of Commerce, Hyundai dealership, Svoi Market chain, and many others.
We developed many online stores this year, gaining tons of experience and insight into the eCommerce direction. We also built two marketplaces — one of them is still running today.
That year brought us even more well-known clients, such as OKKO gas station chain and Podorozhnyk pharmacy chain. We significantly improved quality and focused most of our time on eCommerce projects.
Competition online intensified, so we began testing different marketing approaches and created an effective SEO promotion system for websites and online stores.
We kept developing and promoting online stores and websites — and started building a ready-made online store engine, allowing new stores to be launched within hours. The first version was quite basic and overcomplicated, but it was a start — experience and learning in action.
The COVID lockdown gave us extra time to refine the eCommerce system. We redesigned the standard store template, made it responsive and optimized, reworked the code — essentially, we started creating a serious product, though it didn’t have a name yet.
Just like with stores, websites also needed a reliable foundation. We began developing our modular, high-speed base system for websites — focused on flexibility, performance, and fast deployment.
Work shifted to a survival mode — only critical updates. We switched to remote work, downsized office space, and faced months of uncertainty. But thanks to new clients, we managed to stabilize and keep going, even on a smaller scale.
Better than the previous year, though still below pre-war and pre-pandemic levels. We kept improving our site and store frameworks during downtime — laying the groundwork for the future.
Workload increased significantly, and nearly all projects came from returning clients. We realized that our long-term relationships carried us through the hard times.
We’re confident the best is ahead. We launched the MEGAZYN presentation website — our eCommerce foundation — and are now promoting it through multiple channels. Several new projects already run on the updated site base. If you’re reading this — get in touch, let’s meet and create something great together.
